JACKSON, Wyo. — A rally for reproductive rights will be held on Jackson Town Square tomorrow, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. The rally in Jackson will coincide with other gatherings nationwide.
Speakers, including physicians, elected officials and statewide candidates will share remarks beginning at 4:30 p.m.
According to a press release from the event’s organizers, the speakers will address the current threats to reproductive rights in Wyoming and what the future of reproductive healthcare may look like in the state and region.
“This rally is essential for all of us who care about insuring that people’s human rights and reproductive freedoms remain protected in Wyoming,” said Caitlin Shea, a family nurse practitioner, reproductive rights activist and one of the event organizers. “The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and 50 years of legal precedence protecting the right to an abortion is already having severe, even lethal, consequences for pregnant people and their healthcare providers all over America. Wyoming’s abortion “trigger” ban would make a bad situation even worse. We’re gathering to say in no uncertain terms: our bodies, our choice. Abortion care is health care, period, and everyone in Wyoming deserves access.”
The date of the rally also marks one month until the mid-term elections.
