JACKSON, Wyo. — Rendevous Park is becoming a popular place as summer days begin to heat up. The pond area is always a hit with kids — big and small — especially those trying out paddleboards, kayaks, and other floatie things.
Observant eyes will undoubtedly notice more than a few trout swimming around in the pond with outlets to the Snake River. In fact, the second shipment of Snake River cutthroat trout was put into the kids’ fishing pond at Rendezvous “R” Park recently, courtesy of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
This time a total of 700 fish were released with 100 of those being the full-grown retired brood stock fish that provided eggs for the Auburn Fish Hatchery’s spawning program. This brings the total to 1,600 fish stocked with 200 of those being 16″ cutthroats.
That should provide more than enough fun for families with youngsters, especially this weekend when temps are supposed to soar well into the 80’s.
When visiting R Park, please be aware of the following rules and regulations:
- Fishing at R Park is only if you are under 16 years old
- Please practice catch and release
- Baiting is prohibited, unless through a pre-approved kids program
- WY State Law: A fishing license is required for residents and nonresidents age 14 and over. Nonresidents under age 14 do not need a license if accompanied by an adult possessing a valid Wyoming fishing license.
