JACKSON, Wyo. — Summer is in full swing, and Jackson is teeming with tourists, road trippers, returned snowbirds, digital nomads and new arrivals. Unfortunately, this means trash cans are also teeming.
Buckrail recently received a tip that the Maple Way branch of the Jackson post office’s garbage receptacles are overflowing.

A representative from the United States Postal Service said that the trash cans and recycle bins are placed inside the lobby as convenience for people who dispose of their mail after reading it at the post office. They are not meant for community or personal trash disposal.
Unsure where to dispose of waste? Jackson’s Integrated Solid Waste & Recycling (ISWR) recommends that residents and visitors utilize the Trash Transfer Station at Horsethief Canyon (open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) for responsible and proper disposal of trash. Recycling can be taken to the Recycling Center at 3270 S. Adams Canyon road in town, or residents can make use of these satellite sites:
- Rodeo Grounds Parking Lot
- Recreation Center
- Albertsons Lot
- The Aspens
- Hoback Junction
Together, we can keep our valley beautiful.
