JACKSON, Wyo. — Folks should expect to see the return of protected bike lanes on Snow King Avenue sometime next week.

“We typically aim for the end of April,” said Pathways Coordinator Brian Schilling. “This year we are tentatively scheduled for April 27, but installation is subject to weather and street cleaning.”

Work crews with the Town of Jackson have started street sweeping so things are on track for the 27th, says Schilling.

“We’ll just need to keep an eye on the weather forecast next week.”

Snow King Avenue is the primary east-west bicycle route through the Town of Jackson, connecting downtown and neighborhoods in East Jackson to destinations such as the Teton County Library, the Jackson/Teton County pathway system, school campuses and commercial areas and neighborhoods in West Jackson.

The protected bike lanes feature paint markings and flexible plastic delineators that offset the bike lane from motor vehicle traffic, which provides improved safety and comfortable riding conditions for people of all ages and abilities. The protected bike lanes run from Cache Street to Scott Lane and Maple Way to the start of Garaman Pathway along Flat Creek.

For a second year, there will be an extension of the protected lanes all the way to Jackson Elementary School as part of the Willow Street Safe Routes Project.
