JACKSON, Wyo. — Here are some recent calls for service in Teton County/Jackson from the dispatch log. Names may be withheld at the request of law enforcement. All persons cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filing from the Teton County Attorney’s Office.
April 19, 12:51 p.m.
Officer O’Donnell responded to a report of someone urinating in a public place. He responded to the location and found the man seated in his vehicle. He admitted to urinating in public and explained he lived a short distance away. The reason he did not return home to take care of his business, was because he was taking part in a video conference and did not want to disturb his roommates.
Officer O’Donnell gave the 30-year-old Jackson man a citation for urinating in public.
April 20, 1:43 p.m.
Officer Normand responded to a report of a stolen license plate. Someone stole the license plate while the vehicle was left unattended in a hotel parking lot.
April 20, 2:46 p.m.
Officer Normand responded to another report of a stolen license plate. Someone stole the victim’s license plate while the vehicle was left unattended in an apartment complex parking lot.
Whoever is stealing these license plates, whether the same person or different, should know that these plates are entered as stolen in a national database. If you get stopped with one on your car, the chances are high that you’ll be stopped and arrested.
April 21, 11:33 p.m.
Officer Shreve responded to a report of a man with a shotgun in someone’s hotel room. The reporting person said the person was hiding under their bed. When Officer Shreve arrived, he could not find anyone with a gun. He spoke with the reporting person, who claimed to have seen a 6- to 12-inch man with a shotgun running down the road.
Police and sheriff’s office deputies searched the area, but couldn’t find anyone fitting that description. Officer Shreve wasn’t able to establish that a crime had been committed or that any other action could be taken, but decided it was important enough to document.
April 22, 10:56 a.m.
Officer Proctor responded to a report of fraud. A local bank reported that one of their customers cashed a check into the account which appeared to be a counterfeit check for $15,000.00. Before the bank could cancel the check the customer withdrew $8,500.00 in cash. The bank was unable to contact the customer so they contacted the police department. The investigation is ongoing.
April 23, 10:17 a.m.
RO Schmidl responded to a report of Destruction of Property. The property manager reported someone had sprayed graffiti on his building. The manager was not able to identify any suspects. Police will check on the building as they are able and do what they can to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
