JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County has announced the appointment of Dr. Travis Riddell to the position of Teton County Health Director, effective on Aug. 1.
Riddell has treated local kids at Jackson Pediatrics since 2009; he then acquired the practice in 2014, according to the County. He has served as the Teton District Health Officer for 12 years, per the announcement, which involved collaboration with local, state and national public officials, healthcare providers, schools and organizations to improve population health.
“As a career-long public health advocate, I could not be more thrilled to have this opportunity to help foster the wellness of all in our community,” Dr. Riddell said in the announcement. “I look forward to working with the County Commissioners, Administrator Pond and the dedicated team at the Health Department to advance our already strong programming and build new opportunities with our community partners to make Teton County the healthiest place.”
Riddell steps into a role vacated by Jodie Pond in November after more than a decade in the position. Pond now serves as the County Commissioners’ Administrator. Riddell will helm day-to-day departmental operations, overseeing Community Health, Environmental Health, Nursing and Clinical Services, Diseases and Conditions, and Public Health Preparedness and Response, the County announced.
“As a pediatrician, business owner and valued community leader, Dr. Riddell is uniquely
equipped with a wide range of knowledge,” Pond said in the announcement. “We look forward to Dr. Riddell bringing his extensive clinical expertise, detailed administrative experience and passion for community health and partnerships to Teton County.”
The announcement praised Riddell’s leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying his “tough decisions … produced high levels of testing, behavioral modification and vaccine acceptance, which resulted in low fatality rates in Teton County.”
