JACKSON, Wyo. — After a vehicle-pedestrian collision occurred in town this morning, the Jackson Police Department issued a reminder for drivers and those on foot to practice caution.
A call came into dispatch at 7:57 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, informing officers that a male crossing the intersection of Millward and Broadway was hit by a car turning left off of Millward onto Broadway.
Officers were dispatched along with an ambulance. The driver stayed on the scene and was cooperative. The pedestrian refused medical care and was able to walk away from the incident.
“I have a saying, ‘Be aware and cross with care,'”Lieutenant Russ Ruschill told Buckrail.
Ruschill reminds drivers and pedestrians to have a heightened sense of awareness when proceeding into traffic.
“Anytime you enter a roadway, there is variability,” Ruschill said. “Even if a pedestrian has the right of way, the pedestrian always loses in a collision with a vehicle, from a physics perspective.”
Drivers are reminded to watch for pedestrians and those crossing the street are reminded to watch for vehicles.
