WYOMING – As fuels dry out across forested lands in Wyoming, the Game and Fish Department is implementing a partial fire ban on land owned by the WGF Commission within Goshen and Albany counties. The restrictions go into effect immediately.
Under a partial ban it is permissible have contained campfires within an established fire ring, and to use gas grills and charcoal, all with proper means to extinguish a fire nearby. Welding, using a cutting torch and smoking must be done in a cleared area of at least 10 feet in radius. Internal or external combustion engines, including ATVs and motorcycles, shall have approved spark arrestors.
The affected areas include Springer, Table Mountain and Rawhide Wildlife Habitat Management Areas (WHMA), as well as Packers Lake and North Platte River Public Access Areas in Goshen County, and Forbes/Sheep Mountain, Jelm, Laramie Peak, Tom Thorne Williams/Beth Williams WHMAs and Wheatland Reservoir 3 Public Access Area in Albany County. The Laramie Plains Lakes, including Lake Hattie, Twin Buttes Reservoir, Galett Lake, Meeboer Lake and Leazenby Lake Public Access Area, are also under the partial fire ban.
