WYOMING — A section of Beartooth Highway, US212, will close on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. due to forecasted winter weather, Yellowstone National Park announced Thursday.

Beartooth Highway runs along the northern border of Wyoming, close to Montana. It is frequented by visitors coming to and from Yellowstone.

The highway will be closed between Long Lake barricade, near Top of the World Store, and the Montana/Wyoming state line. Crews will evaluate conditions and will reopen the highway as weather conditions allow.

Last week, the same portion of Beartooth Highway was closed after four inches of snow and ice accumulated on the roadway. The road reopened on Monday.

According to Montana’s Department of Transportation, the highway is typically open from Memorial Day through mid-October.
