JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation announced on Thursday that Town and County parks and facilities around the valley have begun the transition from summer to winter operations.
According to a press release, all seasonal restrooms and water fountains at Town and County parks will be closed for winter starting Wednesday, Oct. 1. Exceptions include Miller Park and Emily’s Pond restrooms, which will remain open year-round; Stilson Lot restrooms, which will close Oct. 15 and reopen for winter operations in November; and Wilson and South Park Boat Ramp restrooms will close on Oct. 31.
The statement also said that staff has already started winterization efforts for all irrigation systems, and will soon begin “increased agronomic practices” over the coming month in order to support healthy soil conditions through the winter.
Other recreation facilities will also close for the winter soon. Tennis, basketball and pickleball courts, as well as all hard-surface courts, are scheduled to close on Wednesday, Oct. 15, but could remain open longer depending on weather conditions.
The Owen Bircher Riding Arena in Wilson will be available for reservation through Tuesday, Sept. 30, and will remain accessible until Oct. 15, weather permitting.
The seasonal dog park at the Teton County Fairgrounds is anticipated to open the first week of November.
