JACKSON, Wyo. — Due to low valley snow pack this year and assistance from the
Snake River Fund (SRF), river enthusiasts will have early season river access at the Wilson and South Park boat ramps.
According to a press release, Teton County Parks and Recreation (Parks and Rec) and SRF plan to clear access roads and ramps on Saturday and Sunday, March 15 and 16, with river access beginning Monday, March 17, weather dependent. SRF will manage restroom access and general facilities maintenance until April 15 when Parks staff assumes responsibility.
Restrooms will not be accessible until Tuesday or Wednesday next week.
Down river established access and exit points located in Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) are not on the same schedule as Teton County, per the press release. Early season access below the South Park boat ramp will be limited. BTNF information related to river and stream fishing can be found here.
River users are asked to adhere to signage, communication and/or direction from construction crews working on the Snake River Bridge/Wyoming Highway 22 construction.
TCJPR and SRF would like to remind users that early season conditions exist. Cold water, unpredictable weather and unnavigable channels should all be considered when planning an early season float.
“Please boat responsibly and be respectful of the river resources, wildlife impacts and avoid private property,” Parks and Rec writes.
