JACKSON, Wyo. — A wetter weather pattern has arrived in the valley, moderating fire behavior on the Pack Trail Fire. As imminent wildfire danger decreases in residential areas, local emergency management organizations are re-evaluating evacuation orders.

Teton County Emergency Management has downgraded evacuation orders in the Upper Gros Ventre from the “Go!” stage back to the “Set” stage (on its evacuation scale of “Ready, Set, Go!”). Residents of that area are allowed to go back home.

“Pack Trail Fire continues to burn in area of Gros Ventre, but recent weather has reduced risk,” Teton County Emergency Management said via email alert on Friday, Oct. 18. “Evacuation (GO! stage) lifted for Upper Gros Ventre. Evacuees may return to property.”

“Upper Gros Ventre and Darwin Ranch areas remain in Set stage (Prepare to Evacuate) due to the continued activity of the Pack Trail Fire,” the alert reads. “Those in the Upper Gros Ventre and Darwin Ranch areas must remain prepared to evacuate should the situation change. Continue to monitor Teton_WY Alerts for updates. If you are in the Set stage areas and at any time feel you are in danger due to approaching wildfire, do not wait for a Teton_WY Alert and leave immediately!”

Teton County residents should keep an eye on tcincident.org for updates and maps.

Similarly, Fremont County Emergency Management has reduced evacuation orders surrounding the fire. All residents are allowed to return to their homes, but those in certain areas need to remain alert as the fire could evolve at any moment.

The Dunoir area has been completely downgraded to normal status. The Brooks Lake Lodge, Pinnacle, Breccia and Long Creek areas have been reduced to “Ready” evacuation status. The Lava Mountain Mountain Lodge, Roaring River Subdivision, Buckboard Subdivision, Double Bar J Ranch, Lava Creek Ranch, Triangle C Ranch, Pelham Lake, Sheridan Creek Camp, Old Mackenzie Ranch and Union Pass areas are now at “Set” status.
