JACKSON, Wyo. — The Teton County and Jackson Parks and Recreation Department has announced that both Owen Bircher and the Fairgrounds ice rink are up and running today, Wednesday, Dec. 9.
Staff has come up with a plan to open Powderhorn Ice rink as conditions and resources allow. They say it will take a little longer to get up and running and will be low on the priority list during large or prolonged snow events.
“We need another two to four inches of snow before we can begin building that rink,” Parks and Rec said in a press release. “We are still patiently awaiting more snow in order to get the PistenBully out for grooming as well. We did get the roller/snowmobile out to Stilson in the last day or two and most other areas are skier packed at this time.”
In addition to their normal grooming schedule and locations, JHMR and Teton Village Association will groom the pathway section of Highway 390 this year from Lake Creek to the Village. They also need more snow to begin this but Parks and Rec say that this is another exciting opportunity to get outdoors.
