WYOMING – Visitors to the great state of Wyoming apparently don’t leave home without it: cash.

A new report from the Outdoor Industry Association says outdoor recreation contributed $5.6 billion in spending in Wyoming. Recreating also generated some 50,000 direct jobs in the Cowboy State. While 15 other states rank ahead of Wyoming in money spent instate, the $5.6 billion represents a steady increase over a five-year span.

The study also found 73% of state residents enjoy the outdoors as well—participating in regularly in hiking, camping, hunting, boating, fishing, skiing, paddling, and other activities.

An increase in the sustainable form of revenue to the state is welcome news while the energy sector continues to be in decline.
