JACKSON, Wyo. — Taking charge of your money and creating a pathway to financial self-sufficiency can feel difficult, and sometimes insurmountable, for many. One22 Resource Center hopes to simplify this process and help folks take an active role in their financial lives with the launch of its 2024 Financial Empowerment Workshops. These free events are built to help low- to moderate-income community members make incremental and meaningful steps toward financial stability.
Kicking off the Spring series will be a very special presentation with Jen Hemphill, an award-winning podcaster, Accredited Financial Counselor, author and speaker. Jen’s “Simple Finances: Ditch the Overwhelm and Take Control” workshop will be presented in Spanish on April 17 and English on April 18 at the Teton County Library.
Jen’s mission is to help people be more confident and simplify their finances so they can save more, get out of debt quicker and build wealth! Her podcast, Her Dinero Matters, is focused on helping Latinas have increased confidence and control over their finances. She has been featured in publications such as Forbes, New York Times, Oprah Magazine, Good Company Magazine, NPR and NBC News.
Other workshops in the Financial Empowerment Spring Series include “Financial Empowerment for Future Education: Using a 529” with Teton Literacy Center, “Budgeting, Savings and Credit” with Kenia Stack from First Western Trust and “Small Business Start-Up Tips” with Jeff Thompson from First Interstate Bank. As part of One22’s vision of providing equitable access across programming, the organization is excited to create a bilingual experience for participants (languages presented are noted in the full list of events below).
To encourage attendees to broaden their financial education in multiple areas, One22 is hosting a “Take Charge of Your Money Spring Challenge.” Participants who complete any two of the following by May 15 will earn a $75 gift card to a local store:
- Attend the kick-off workshop with Jen Hemphill on April 17 or 18
- Complete One22’s virtual financial education series
- Attend one of our Take Charge workshops
One22 knows that financial education is a crucial component of personal and community success. The organization is grateful to the presenters and collaborators who are partnering to bring these engaging events to the area. For those interested in learning more about how they can get involved as a presenter or sponsor of this series, and for general questions about the workshops, please contact One22 at info@one22jh.org.
