Old West Days & New Art, Memorial Day weekend events #wonderwednesday Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

Come to the JH Historical Society & Museum or tune in to Wyoming Public Radio from 9am to noon this Thursday for the StoryCorps project Opening Day. The live radio broadcast will feature music from local musicians Aaron Davis and Bo Elledge, and you can learn how to sign up and share your own story.

Next, take a lunch break with local painter Katy Ann Fox. Fox will give an Artist Talk on her new exhibition ‘hit pause” derived from Polaroid-style instaphotos and on display for the next month in The Center Theater Gallery.

Old West Days kicks off on Thursday, too, with the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar reopening Chamber Celebration. This traditional spring festival runs through Monday and offers so many events, including a Saturday parade, that we corralled them all in an Old West Days Special Collection.

Round out Thursday evening at Teton Artlab with an inspiring multimedia presentation, artist talk, and open studio by visiting artist Jave Yoshimoto. His current work at the Artlab is based on the refugee crisis in Greece.

Teton County Library welcomes U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith on Friday for a free talk at The Center. Smith will also give a Saturday workshop on the use of metaphor. Be sure to pick up your tickets or sign up for the workshop ahead of time at the library.

On Saturday night, KHOL community radio presents their Winter Membership Drive Thank You show with Y La Bamba at Pink Garter Theatre. Check out a video of the band on the calendar.

On Sunday, the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce offers a new Old West Days event, Sip and See, featuring local artists. Get a look into the creative process with live art demonstrations by Danny Shervin, Emily Boespflug, Fred Kingwill, Lyndsay McCandless, John Springer, and Erick Nelson, while Jackson Hole Winery offers sips by the glass.
