Old Bill’s 2020 awards celebration goes virtual

JACKSON, Wyo. — Every year around this time, the more than 200 nonprofits registered with the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole enjoy a gathering at the National Museum of Wildlife Art to hear what has become unbelievably good news topping the previous year’s unbelievably good news.

Some of the numbers? Old Bill’s Fun Run 2019 raised $14,381,191 from 4,012 donors. Old Bill’s has brought an astounding $173 million philanthropic dollars to the community since its inception in 1997.

The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole announced today that it will celebrate the culmination of Old Bill’s 2020 virtually in deference to local public health metrics. The Foundation also plans to release a video message from president Laurie Andrews on Monday, October 26 at 3 p.m. where she will announce the amount raised and introduce the inaugural Spirit of Old Bill’s Award.

“While we are disappointed that we cannot celebrate Old Bill’s in person this year, we are deeply grateful to the community for showing up during the giving season,” Andrews said. “We are here, together, and continue to be here for each other during these unprecedented times.”

On Tuesday, October 27, representatives from participating nonprofits should pick up their grant checks at the Community Foundation during the “drive-by” Old Bill’s check distribution. Checks will be distributed throughout the day outside the Community Foundation office (245 E. Simpson Avenue) in alphabetical order by the organization’s name:

  • A-C: 9 – 10 a.m.
  • D-I: 10 – 11 a.m.
  • J: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • K-R: 1 – 2 p.m.
  • S: 2 – 3  p.m.
  • T: 3 – 4 p.m.
  • U-Z: 4 – 5 p.m.

Representatives are asked to wear masks and to remain in their cars; checks will be delivered curbside. Unclaimed checks will be held at the Community Foundation. Any checks not picked up by November 30 will forfeit the matching grant. Checks will not be mailed.
