JACKSON, Wyo. — According to the National Park Service (NPS), the federal agency is implementing President Donald J. Trump’s Hiring Freeze Executive Order across the civilian workforce.
An NPS spokesperson tells Buckrail that the order does allow for exemptions for the hiring of certain positions, and that “the NPS is assessing our most critical staffing needs for park operations for the coming season and is working to hire key positions.”
While the NPS did not address Buckrail‘s question as to whether or not seasonal job offers were rescinded in Grand Teton National Park (GTNP), Sue Consolo-Murphy, former GTNP/John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway Chief of Science and Resource Management, previously told Buckrail that GTNP is in a position to greatly feel the impacts of a reduced workforce.
The NPS does confirm it is “committed to protecting public lands, infrastructure and communities while ensuring public access” despite rollbacks in positions.
