DRIGGS, Idaho — It’s another tough summer ahead for drive-in moviegoers and owners. The Spud Drive-in will not open this summer, managers announced on Facebook today.

The beloved theater is still recovering from a wind storm that blew the entire screen down in April. At the time, owners were optimistic about rebuilding in time for a June 1. But building material is hard to come by quickly these days, and “advancing our 70 year old blueprints to 2020s standards” will take longer than expected.

“This pains us significantly as we will be missing out on many summertime traditions,” the Spud wrote on Facebook. “We promise when we reopen in 2023, we will throw one of the greatest parties Teton Valley has ever experienced!”

The iconic drive-in located between Victor and Driggs has been open since 1953. Katie and Jedd Mumm have managed it since 2014.
