JACKSON, Wyo. — According to a report released today by WalletHub, Wyoming is one of the safest states in the U.S. during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of March 31, around 16% of the population is fully vaccinated against the virus. The state is well above average in rates of vaccine distribution which is an essential component for the full reopening of the economy.
In order to find out the safest states during the COVID-19 pandemic, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across five key metrics. The data set includes the rates of Covid-19 transmission, positive testing, hospitalizations, and death, as well as the share of the eligible population getting vaccinated.
At the end of last month, the state ranked 8th overall for safest states during the pandemic. Wyoming also was 29th in positive testing rate, 6th in hospitalization, 1st in death, and 18th in transmission rate.
