VICTOR, Idaho — A new, no frills, mountain-inspired taphouse on the corner of Main and Center Street opened this past Friday in downtown Victor.

Refuge is owned and operated by Victor local, Brian Mulvihill who has been in valley for just over four years. Originally from Bend, Oregon, Mulvihill came up through the rich craft beer scene of the Pacific Northwest and nerded out from a young age on the DIY, homebrew culture there.

Through some European travels, Mulvilhille became inspired by the sort of bar meeting-place, where you may just happen to run into locals, enjoy a fine bevarage, chat about the town’s happenings and even seek refuge during a storm. As the northwest craft brew scene became a bit saturated, Mulvilhille began to see himself more of a purveyor of the adult bevarage, and hoped to create a communal gathering space.

Refuge has a rotating taplist of beers; from IPA’s and pale ales, to stouts and ciders and even a refreshing cream ale. They offer a combination of local and regional breweries, as well as canned cocktails, wine and even a rose on tap. The taphouse does not currently serve food, but Mulvilhille has plans to offer some light tapas style snacks, and food from any local restaraunts is allowed and encouraged.

Mulvilhill has been very appreciative of the local reception since opening just this past Friday, and plans to be open weekdays 2 – 9 p.m. and later on weekends. Refuge is for people 21 and up, and also offers a cooler with a variety of to-go beers.
