JACKSON, Wyo. — Around a month ago, ground was broken for the new grandstands and locker rooms at the Snow King Sports & Events Center, which will account for $1.5 million of the 2027 Town of Jackson budget. The funding was approved at the June 15 Town Council meeting. The 2027 Fiscal Year runs from July 1, 2026 until June 30, 2026.

Construction began roughly a month ago and Public Works Director Johnny Ziem told Buckrail that the new locker rooms could be finished by by late September or early October, ahead of the hockey season.

The grandstands, provided by a third party, will likely be delivered around the same time, and will take around 10 days to be installed. The grandstands will be Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant and also include mezzanine access.

Last December, athletes and residents came out in droves to support building female locker rooms at the rink. At that time the Town approved the use of $500,000 in funds from the 2026 budget for Shaw Construction to begin the project.

If construction remains on schedule, both the locker rooms and grandstands are expected to be completed before the first Moose Hockey game for the 20206/2027 season in November.
