VICTOR, Idaho — Teton Valley Foundation‘s summer concert series, Music on Main, will wrap up its 2024 season Thursday Aug. 15 with a performance by Mike Love.

A musician devoted to revolution through sound, Mike Love’s performances are captivating. Love was born in O’ahu, Hawaii, to a family of musicians, and the artist says he has used music as a conversation for as long as he can remember.

He comes from a unique convergence of influences, yet all are bound by their common ambition to inspire positive change in the world. He releases his music independently on his own Love Not War Records label. His sound, while rooted in the spirituality and message-based music of roots reggae, fuses a variety of influences, including progressive and classic rock, soul, blues, flamenco, jazz, classical and more.

Mike’s songs possess wisdom and seek to instill change, whether it be regarding issues of the environment, animal cruelty or personal growth. They are about being conscious and mindful as human beings living among so many other life forms on this beautiful planet.

For Mike Love, music is love: a form of healing, learning and growing. Mike started playing guitar at the age of 15, and soon after began performing live as front man for ten-piece band Dubkonscious. He then began to hone what has now become an internationally recognized, power-packed, one-man-band show, using looping, multiple instruments and an array of different vocal techniques and musical styles to create a full and powerful sound that belies the fact that he is on stage alone.

Love’s solo performances have since taken him to some of the largest stages in the world. He has performed at festivals and on stages in the U.S., South and Central America, Canada, Europe, Guam, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines, both solo and with his band The Full Circle. He has shared the stage with the likes of Michael Franti, Rebelution, Steel Pulse, Groundation, Xavier Rudd, John Butler and Dave Matthews.

He released his highly anticipated fourth album in 2022. Don’t miss this soulful, electrifying musical experience as we say farewell to the 2024 concert season.

Chanman Roots Band opens the show at 6:15 p.m. This week’s raffle includes a night and spa pass for two to Snow King Lodge and a dinner package for the Marty O’Reilly Trio at the Tetonia Club. All proceeds from the raffle support the concert series. Music plays rain or shine at the Victor City Park. Suggested donation of $5. No off site alcohol permitted.
