JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The Jackson Hole Moose handled their first nonleague opponent with relative ease over the weekend, notching 4-goal wins on both Friday and Saturday night.

Jackson came out of the gate quickly with a tally from the team’s leading scorer, AJ Sanders, nine seconds into the contest. It would go that way for the first period Friday, as teams traded goals to a 4-3 first intermission with the Moose up by a goal.

The Moose choked out the Leafs through the second and third periods for an eventual 8-4 win, Friday. The scoring was spread evenly for the hometowners with Alex Dewitz, Charlie Bemis, Tom Hartnett, Alex Byers, and Brian Upesleja all lighting the lamp. Forward Kevin Sunde, and D-men Kristian Ophus and Chase Wharton all added a pair of assists. Sanders finished with a 5-point night.

Saturday, it was a chance for the supporting cast to strut their stuff. Backup goaltender Tyler Jansen was sharp in his season debut, earning the night’s third star, Saturday. Wingers Alex Byers and Charlie Hagen were outstanding in the 7-3 victory last night as well. Saturday’s contest ended in a bit of rough stuff as Denver’s frustration level was rising.

Next up for the Jackson Hole is an away set with the Vail Yeti next weekend. The Moose return to friendlier confines on December 15-16 when they tackle archrivals, the Sun Valley Suns.

The Moose are 6-0 on the season.

Final score Saturday night at the Snow King Sports and Event Center.
