JACKSON, Wyo. — S Millward Street, between W Hansen Ave. and W Kelly Ave., was briefly closed yesterday evening at about 5:30 p.m. into this morning, Dec. 29, due to a severely potholed water main trench.
According to Town of Jackson Public Works Senior Engineer Scott Mohror, winter hit and crews were not able to pour asphalt over the trench. The gravel surface then got covered with snow. The recent rain and cars driving over it created a pothole. Work on the water main began back in October.
Crews were able to cut off all the ice and clear the trench back to the gravel surface this morning, allowing for the road to be reopened just after 9 a.m.
Mohor explained the quick fix is only temporary and in the spring asphalt will be put down.
