POCATELLO, Id. — Two drug traffickers, one operating out of Victor, Idaho, were sentenced last week to a collective 21.5 years in federal prison, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Idaho.
Fredy Munoz-Morales, age 36, received a sentence of 12.5 years after pleading guilty to intent to sell meth. Authorities found seven pounds of the drug and two firearms at a residence associated with Munoz-Morales in Victor, Idaho, while executing a search warrant in April 2023. Munoz is a Mexican national and citizen. He pleaded guilty to the charge in February.
Earlier in the week, Gabriel Lopez, age 40, was sentenced to nine years in federal prison after a search of his Idaho Falls residence turned up 392.2 grams of methamphetamine and small amounts of cocaine and marijuana, according to a press release.
A co-defendant, Elizabeth Finlay, age 55, of Pocatello, Idaho will face trial on July 8.
BADGES, a drug-focused task force made up of federal, state and local law enforcement, had been investigating Lopez since August 2023.
Both men will serve five years of supervised release after their prison sentences are complete.
Both cases were prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Blythe McLane. The sentences were announced by U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwit, who commended the work of the Teton County (Idaho) Sheriff’s Office, the Idaho State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration in investigating the crimes.
