JACKSON, Wyo. — The Melody Ranch Improvement and Service District (ISD) is requesting that Melody Ranch residents adjust their lawn irrigation to conserve water. According to an email from the ISD Board of Directors dated July 12, one of the district’s two water pumps failed and a “quick fix is not feasible.”
While the district is pursuing a replacement pump, expected to be installed in the next week to seven days, the capacity of the single pump is not enough to sustain lawn irrigation at normal settings. According to the ISD, the capacity of one well is about 540,000 gallons per day and, during the summer, peak irrigation consumption is about one million gallons per day.
“If owners do not reduce the irrigation water use while this work is being done, the system will run dry for all use including drinking water and fire protection,” states the email.
The Board is asking that Melody residents either reduce lawn irrigation by 50% or adjust the systems to water half the number of days that are currently programmed.
