YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Those considering a weekend visit to Yellowstone National Park (YNP) might need to make alternative plans. Many internal park roads will close on Saturday night due to the anticipated arrival of winter weather conditions.
According to a Nixle alert issued Friday morning, the park roads connecting Tower Fall to Canyon, Fishing Bridge to the East Entrance, and West Thumb to Old Faithful will close at 7 p.m. on Saturday before snow showers roll in.

The bulk of YNP’s roads will close for the season on Nov. 1. Winter weather has already caused intermittent closures to park roads this month as temperatures decline. Check out YNP’s dedicated park roads website for updates.
A number of destinations and services in the park have been winding down operations as visitor season draws to a close, in addition to impacts from the government shutdown. Be prepared for reduced services when visiting.
YNP’s website notes that Norris Geyser Basin (including all boardwalks, trails, restrooms and parking lots) has closed for the season “to allow for critical infrastructure maintenance.”
