JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Police Department (JPD) is seeking information about a male suspect who allegedly knocked over the bronze elk statue outside of The Rose, causing an estimated $5,000 in damages to an antler of the statue.
The incident occurred on Sunday, March 27 at 12:55 p.m. in the Pink Garter Plaza.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his 40s or 50s, about 5’11” to 6’1″tall, 160-175 lbs, with scruffy grey facial hair. He was wearing grey pants, an orange jacket and a Dakine hat at the time of the incident.

According to JPD, he attempted to enter The Rose but was turned away. He walked back down the stairs, wandered around the courtyard and slammed a bike rack to the ground.
“He then walked over to the Elk Statue, lit a cigarette, and leaned against the statue. The statue wobbled for a second then the male reached over and pushed the statue over,” according to a press release from JPD.

The male spoke with several patrons of The Rose prior to his departure, says JPD. Individuals who can help police identify the suspect and lead to an arrest and conviction may be eligible for a reward through Crimestoppers.
