WILSON, Wyo. — The U.S. Forest Service Teton Basin Ranger District’s trail crew began work to replace the bridge across Trail Creek near Mail Cabin Trail on Wednesday, Sept. 20, according to the Forest Service.

The crew dragged in a native Douglas fir stringer to lay across the creek.
Last winter, an unknown person added decking to the existing bridge, which had been made of two native trees. The weight distribution of accumulated snow on the new decking ended up crushing that bridge.
Representatives from the Forest Service called the citizen who added planks without authorization “well-intentioned.”
The new bridge will be a stronger structure, per the Forest Service. Construction will continue this week.
The trail is located near the base of Teton Pass. It serves as a popular backcountry ski destination in winter.
