Lost and found: Missing ski on Snow King

JACKSON, Wyo. — Local Steph Pidcock was recently reunited with her Black Diamond touring ski after losing it back in March on Snow King.

The post on Facebook was the first Pidcock had seen of her ski since losing it in early March.

A good samaritan posted about the missing ski after finding it, along with another single ski in the same spot, while hiking Snow King. A friend of Pidcock’s let her know she thought she had seen the ski on the “Jackson Hole: For Sale Classifieds” Facebook group, and so Pidcock checked Facebook to confirm. “I was sitting at work and saw the post and screamed!” said Pidcock.

Pidcock lost her ski in early March and after extensive efforts, was convinced it was gone. “I was on Snow King one night and was about halfway down and my toes came out and the brakes didn’t engage. The last thing I saw was my ski flying through the air towards the trees between Cougar and Rafferty Lifts.”

Pidcock continued to go out to Snow King every day after work for the next few weeks looking for the ski and was sure it was the last she had seen of it until Friday’s Facebook post.

“I’m so excited to have it back!” Exclaimed Pidcock. “I love living in a town where this kind of thing happens.”
