WYOMING — Extending her World Cup podium streak to nine wins, Stifel U.S. Ski Team athlete and Alta, Wyoming, native Jaelin Kauf earned gold during the Beidahu moguls event, near Jilin City, China on Friday, Feb. 21.
Earlier in February, Kauf won the dual moguls at the Intermountain Health Freestyle International Ski World Cup presented by Stifel at Deer Valley Resort in Utah.
“This is the longest U.S. moguls winning streak since Olympic champion Hannah Kearney won 16 World Cups in a row in the 2011/12 season,” the U.S. Ski Team wrote on its website.
According to the U.S. Ski Team, the sun was out and the bumps were smooth in Beidahu, “making it for a perfect day of moguls World Cup competition.”
In the women’s qualification round, all six U.S. athletes advanced to the finals. Kauf was the final athlete to drop, besting the second-fastest qualification time by over 1.5 points.
“I feel really good about [my run],” Kauf told the U.S. Ski Team. “I was trying to be one of the fastest girls out there which I feel like I did, and overall, it felt really strong.”
Teammate Olivia Giaccio, who is from Redding, Conn., finished in third place, her sixth podium of the season.
