JACKSON, Wyo. — The traditional Torchlight Parades at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Snow King and Grand Targhee will go down this New Year’s Eve.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort will hold a “glow worm parade” for kids off of the Sweetwater Gondola, where glow sticks will replace torch lights. The parade will kick off at 5:30 p.m.”
Participating kids will load the gondola from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. and finish at the base of Sweetwater Gondola. JHMR asks kids to come ready to ski but leave their poles at home so their hands are free to hold the glow sticks. Participation is free and sign-up is not required. Parents are not required to accompany skiers, but are welcome to join.
The Torchlight Parade will begin shortly after the Glow Worm parade reaches the Sweetwater Gondola, at approximately 5:45 p.m., and fireworks will follow.
Snow King Mountain Resort
Snow King Mountain Resort will also hold a Torchlight Parade at 7 p.m. and fireworks will begin after it the parade completes around 7:30 to 7:45 p.m. Participates should arrive at Snow King at 5:30 p.m. Only expert skiers who are 13 or older are allowed to ski in the Torch Light Parade. All participants under 18 must have an adult present and have waivers signed.
Grand Targhee Resort
At Grand Targhee Resort, New Year’s Eve festivities will also include a children’s glow stick parade and adult Torchlight Parade. The public is invited to register anytime before 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the Targhee tent in the Plaza.
The kid’s parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. with loading at the Shoshone lift. It is held on beginner terrain on Little Bighorn. The kids’ Torchlight Parade is reserved for participants between ages 6 to 12. Parents can accompany skiers under 10 if necessary.
Targhee’s adult Torchlight Parade will begin at 5:15 p.m. by loading the Shoshone lift. The adult parade will also come down Little Bighorn at approximately 5:30 p.m. Participants are to meet by 4:45 p.m. to check-in at the Targhee tent in the Plaza. The adult parade is reserved for participants 13 and older.
A fireworks display will follow the Torchlight Parade at 6:15 p.m.
