JACKSON, Wyo. — One-hundred new fire rings, produced by local welder Alan’s Welding, are on their way to the Bridger-Teton National Forest this summer with the help of the Friends of the Bridger-Teton (FBT) Fire Prevention intern crew.

The new fire rings were funded by donations made to FBT.

“Rarely do improvements to the forest happen overnight,” Bridger-Teton National Forest said of the project. “Small incremental change is the name of the game and these 20 (of 100) fire rings will go a long way in ensuring our forest’s future! A huge thank you to all involved in these ongoing efforts.”

Across the Bridger-Teton, designated fire pits and rings are crucial for wildland fire prevention as they help to keep campfires contained.

Community members who are interested in helping Friends of the Bridger Teton install more rings this spring can contact Stewardship Director Madison Traviss at madison@btfriends.org to get on the volunteer list.
