JACKSON, Wyo. — The Little Greys Fire has multiplied in size since it was first reported on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire is now burning on about 39 acres in the Greys River Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF), after it was reported to be 5 acres in size yesterday, according to updates by BTNF. Located about 6 miles southeast of the McCain Guard Station, the fire is burning in timber and grass, with a highly visible smoke column. The fire’s cause has yet to be determined.
BTNF is treating it as a full-suppression fire, having ordered a Type 3 Incident Management Team to the scene, along with the firefighters, two engines, type 1 helicopter and type 3 helicopter already on the scene.
Local fire danger is considered “very high” by Teton Interagency Fire. BTNF is under stage 1 fire restrictions.
