JACKSON, Wyo. — A new wildland fire has been discovered on the Greys River Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF). The Little Greys Fire was discovered on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Firefighters were on the scene with two engines en route as of 4:45 p.m., and air attack and two single engine air tankers have been ordered, per an update by BTNF. The 5-acre blaze is located about 6 miles southeast of the McCain guard station, burning in timber and grass. A smoke column is visible in the area, and BTNF notes there is no need for civilian smoke reports.
“This is a full suppression fire,” BTNF posted to Facebook. “The cause of this fire is undetermined.”
Local fire danger is considered “very high” by Teton Interagency Fire. BTNF is under stage 1 fire restrictions.
