JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Lisa Gingery was named Teacher of the Year 2017 by the Teton County School District No. 1.
In accepting the recognition Gingery stated, “This is an amazing honor. This award is an acknowledgement of how important kindergarten really is and I want to thank the team at Jackson Elementary School, the students and the families. I have worked with the best, they set the bar high for me and I strive to live up to the example set by this amazing team.”
Gingery was nominated by her peers along with Ann Mertaugh, Stan Morgan, and Michelle Rinaldi. From those four finalists, it was a tough decision for the selection committee comprised of two district administrators, Kathy Milburn and Scott Crisp, teachers Nancy Shibuya and Ryan Bell, board trustee Annie Band and Teton County Education Foundation Chair, Nicole Krieger.
Gingery has been working as an educator in Wyoming for 22 years beginning in Fremont School District #1, and moving to TCSD#1 in 2003. Lisa’s career has included teaching junior high, 2nd grade, and 1st grade. For 14 years she has taught kindergarten at Jackson Elementary School. Gingery holds degrees from the University of Minnesota and the University of Wyoming. Lisa is married and has a daughter in 5th grade.
