Lincoln County reporting phone scam

LINCOLN COUNTY, Wyo. — A new scam call is targeting Lincoln County residents and asking for money.

The caller claims to be Rocky Mountain Power. According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the caller ID identifies the number as Rocky Mountain Power. The call begins as an automated recording and sounds official, then transfers the intended victim to a person. The person threatens to shut down power unless payment is received on the phone.

Lincoln County dispatch has received several reports of such a scam. LCSO reminds people to never give out information over the phone. Hang up and call Rocky Mountain Power directly if you have concerns.
