JACKSON, WY – Lightning struck a tree and sparked a small fire near Highway 89 in Snake River Canyon this evening.

A eyewitness coming off of a whitewater rafting trip says he was delayed for roughly half an hour starting around 6:20 p.m. while crews responded and cleared the area.

The fire was small and extinguished quickly. The canyon is back to business as usual.
