JACKSON, Wyo. — In anticipation of El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), more commonly known as Día, Teton County Library (TCL) has planned free dance performances for children and their families in April.
“Día is an annual celebration on April 30 that emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all languages and cultural backgrounds,” TCL Latino Program Coordinator Pati Rocha said in the announcement. “We like to plan events for Día that recognize and respect culture and heritage in order to strengthen our community.”
TCL will honor Día with two celebratory dance performances in the Ordway Auditorium.
On Saturday, April 27, the Tlaneci Folklorico dance group will perform from 4 to 5 p.m. The traveling group of teens from Tlaxcala, Mexico will share their traditional dances.
On Monday, April 29, the library will host Children’s Day Music with Latin Grammy winner Lucky Diaz from 5 to 6 p.m. According to TCL, this concert marks a return engagement by Diaz, whose lyrics and pop beats encourage an audience to sing and dance along.
Library programs are free and open to the community.
