ALTA, Wyo. — Former State Senator, Leland Christensen, 62,  passed away yesterday morning, according to his son Hunter Christensen.

“The update today is a tough one. We were hoping Dad was going to wake up today but in the night he passed peacefully on to the next life surrounded by family,” Hunter said in a gofundme update.

Christensen, of Alta, served Teton County as Sheriff, County Commissioner, State Senator and for the past year, as Senator Cynthia Lummis’ State Director.

Christensen was admitted to a local hospital on Dec. 19, he was transferred to a regional hospital on Christmas Eve, and admitted to the ICU Dec. 29.

According to the gofundme page, “Leland was quietly being treated for Non=Hodgkins Lymphoma when he came down with COVID.”

The Teton County Republican Party released a statement this morning.

“The Teton County Republican Party sends condolences to Anita and their family. Leland’s legacy of encouragement will be missed and his dedication to God, family, and community will be remembered and cherished.”
