MOOSE, Wyo. — Grand Teton National Park (GTNP)’s winter season is winding down.

Friday, March 15, will be the last day the Teton Park Road will be groomed for the season, the park announced Thursday. Beginning on Monday, March 18, the road will be closed for snow removal operations, making it inaccessible to visitors.

“Rotary equipment and plows may be working at any time, and the roadway will be closed to all users until the snow removal operations are completed,” GTNP posted to Facebook. “Skiers and those on snowshoes using areas adjacent to the roadway are cautioned to avoid the arc of snow blown from the equipment because pieces of ice and gravel may be thrown great distances.”

The Teton Park Road is closed annually from November 1 to April 30 from Taggart Lake Trailhead to Signal Mountain Lodge. Snow grooming typically runs from mid-December to mid-March.

The road is expected to re-open in early April, depending on weather conditions, the park said. Activities including cycling, roller skating, skateboarding, roller skiing, walking, jogging and leashed pet walking will be allowed on the park road until April 30.

GTNP reminds visitors that other seasonal park closures will remain in effect, and that opening dates vary from year to year based on weather, wildlife activity and road conditions. See Grand Teton’s Live Road Status Map at https://go.nps.gov/tetonroads.
