Lady Moose win it all in Sun Valley. (Jackson Youth Hockey)

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Congratulations to the Jackson 14U Lady Moose! Our Jackson 14U Lady Moose travelled to Sun Valley over the weekend where they took home the championship banner.

The Jackson team was filled out by a few 14Us from Park City and Salt Lake.

It was a busy three-game Saturday with the Jackson girls losing just the one to the Boise Fireblades I by a 2-0 score. Jackson rebounded by trouncing Sun Valley 7-2 thanks to goals from August Otto and Hanne Somers (the game winner in the second period). Jana Turner added an insurance goal later with Somers assisting.

Jackson then tied the Boise Fireblades II 4-4 to finish up Saturday play.

On Sunday, the Lady Moose beat Idaho Falls 8-3. Assists from Illa Musclow and Jana Turner were key. That win advanced Jackson to the final round and a rematch with the Boise Fireblades II.

This time, the score was flipped with the Lady Moose getting the shutout 2-0 in a solid defensive effort.

“The girls enjoyed playing against friends and familiar faces from Sun Valley, Boise, and Idaho Falls,” coach Matt Somers said. There were lots of smiles and great camaraderie with their new friends from Utah.”
