JACKSON, Wyo. — After sparking on June 23, the 880-acre Kinky Creek Fire is now considered 86% contained.
Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) resumed control of firefighting efforts today after the Idaho Team 1 Incident Management Team had been assigned the complex response, according to a fire update shared Wednesday morning, which will be the last for this incident.
“Progress remains steady and consistent on the Kinky Creek Fire as crews secure containment lines, patrol the fire perimeter, and extinguish remaining pockets of heat,” Wednesday morning’s update states. “Firefighters will continue mop-up operations and strengthen containment features to ensure the fire remains within established control lines.
The fire is located approximately 3 miles west of Darwin Ranch, near upper Gros Ventre Falls in the Gros Ventre Wilderness on BTNF’s Jackson Ranger District. As of Wednesday, a reduced forest closure is in effect:
