JACKSON, Wyo. — Kings & Queens of Corbet’s is the most anticipated competition of the season and the ultimate test of athleticism and guts. And while the competition will happen one day next week — whichever day the weather decides — the phenomena that is Kings & Queens of Corbet’s has grown into something even bigger. This year, celebrate Kings & Queens with a whole week of events.
Held in a similar format to many surf competitions, Kings & Queens of Corbet’s will be held within a weather window where the contest day will be chosen when the conditions are optimal for the event and athletes. This year’s competition window is February 10-15.
New this year, spectators can meet and mingle with the athletes at daily “Athlete Après” events, all week, February 10-15 from 4-6 p.m. at the Continuum Hotel.
And for the first time ever, the public is invited to the Kings & Queens of Corbets’ Judging Party. Unlike traditional comps, Kings and Queens is a peer-judged event, which means the athletes are judging one another —style, guts, performance — not some panel that may or may not have the same intimacy with the event itself. Join the action at the Continuum Hotel as the athletes decide who will be crown this year’s King & Queen of Corbets! The judging party is scheduled for Friday, February 14 from 4-6 p.m.
Then, of course, there’s the awards and after-party, kicking off Saturday, February 15 at the Pink Garter Theatre. Hang out with the athletes who put it all on the line for a chance for the crown. All of the athletes’ votes will be in and the King and Queen will be crowned at 8:30 p.m.
Following the awards, Colorado native Ehren River Wright, better known as SoDown, will fill the Pink Garter with music. He has made waves around the nation with his saxophone infused take on bass music. Combining his natural prowess for instrumentation with a unique knack for production, SoDown brings the best of both worlds together for a high energy, adventure-filled show that is not one to miss. Tickets to the awards and after-party are $15, available online.
Also new this year: a special Roadhouse Brewing Co. limited-release Kings and Queens Pale Ale beer with blood orange and Yellowstone mineral salts. The special-edition brew will be served while supplies last at the Roadhouse Pub & Eatery on the Town Square, in Roadhouse’s Gregory Lane Taproom, the Pink Garter Theatre, and in Teton Village at the Four Season Resort and Residences’ Handle Bar, Il Villagio Osteria, Mangy Moose, Piste and RPK3.
