JACKSON, Wyo. — Yes, chef!

Jason King of King Sushi is listed among the 2024 James Beard Awards Semifinalists in the category of Best Chef: Mountain (CO, ID, MT, UT, WY).

The semifinalists were announced on Wednesday, Jan. 24. King is one of 20 chefs listed in the Mountain category, and the only chef representing Wyoming. Six chefs in Colorado were named, along with six in Montana, four in Utah and three in Idaho.

“The King Sushi Family is so proud of Chef Jason King for his James Beard Nomination for Best Chef in the Mountain West!” King Sushi posted to Instagram. “It takes a lifetime of learning, dedication and perseverance to make it this far. Hai Chef!”

Nominees will be announced on April 3, and winners will be named on June 10 at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony in Chicago. See the full list of semifinalists here.

Given in honor of legendary food writer James Beard since 1990, the James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards “recognize exceptional talent and achievement in the culinary arts, hospitality, media and broader food system, as well as a demonstrated commitment to racial and gender equity, community, sustainability and a culture where all can thrive,” according to the Foundation.
