JACKSON, Wyo. — Last Monday during the Jackson Town Council meeting, Jackson Police Officer Wyatt Swicegood was awarded the Jackson Police Department Life Saving Award for administering life-saving care for a visitor having a heart attack.

On March 2, Swicegood was picking up a fellow officer from the airport and heard a radio page about a person having a heart attack near the airport.

Although out of JPD jurisdiction, Swicegood notified dispatch he was in the area and responding. First on the scene, he found the victim unconscious and not breathing. He continued rescue breaths and CPR while medical personnel arrived on the scene.

The victim was eventually transported to Idaho Falls.

During Monday’s town council meeting, Mayor Hailey Morton Levinson read a proclamation honoring Swicegood.

“I, Hailey Morton Levinson, Mayor of the Town of Jackson, on behalf
of the Jackson Town Council, the Jackson Police Department, the Town of Jackson
organization and the entire community do hereby acknowledge and commend Officer Wyatt Swicegood for his significant contribution in keeping our community, not only safe, but alive,” Morton Levinson said.
