VICTOR, Idaho — The seventeenth season of Music on Main is here!
Kick off the summer with a night of dancing, celebrating, and enjoying time with the community, not to mention some incredible live music. This year’s lineup starts off with John Roberts y Pan Blanco for some afro-funk, salsa, soul, jazz and dance music rolled into one stellar night of performances.
Stacked with either six or eight seasoned musicians, John Roberts y Pan Blanco are known for infusing concerts with positive ambiance and energy while bringing Latin and African sounds to the stage. John Roberts is no stranger to the stage. After graduating in 1996 from Montana State University-Billings with a degree in music performance, John moved to Los Angeles to earn his masters of fine arts in western orchestral performance from the California Institute of the Arts.
He has performed in all fifty states and around the world, including Mexico, South America, Israel and Africa. He’s toured with his own band, John Roberts y Pan Blanco (Afro-Latin Soul), Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca (Congolese/Cuban), Bobby Womack (Soul), Los Pinguos (Argentina), The Temptations, Chaka Khan, The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and more. He has also performed at the Grammy and Emmy Award Shows, with Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga, and on The Today Show, NPR, PBS, Disney and more.
Roberts is a professor of Low Brass at MSU-Billings, teaching music theory, aural perception, jazz ensemble, commercial ensemble and world music courses. He is active in the Montana and Los Angeles performing and studio scenes as a bandleader, studio musician and composer/arranger. John is currently recording and composing for his next album, part of which was recorded in Santiago de Cuba and Los Angeles. This record will be a collaboration between Cuban, Congolese, Los Angeles and Montana artists.
Beer, wine, hard cider and hard seltzer are available for purchase, please no outside alcohol as this is how TVF raises funds to provide free music. Dogs are not permitted in the park. Music on Main asks for a $5 suggested donation to help keep the music as affordable and accessible as possible.
