TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) announced Monday that current CEO Mary Kate Buckley will be retiring from the position at the end of May, when she will be succeeded by current COO Doug Pierini.
Buckley is stepping down after seven years at the helm, having assumed the position of CEO in 2018, the resort said.
“The successes of the past seven years are a testament to the incredible team of employees I’ve had the privilege to lead,” Buckley said in the announcement. “With the smooth transition from Kemmerer ownership to the Corbat and Macy families, I feel this is the right time to step down.”
In a statement, JHMR Owner Eric Macy praised Buckley’s leadership.
“From guiding JHMR through the challenges of COVID to pioneering capacity management, she has led with vision and purpose,” Macy said. “We are forever grateful for her leadership, dedication and passion, which have shaped JHMR into what it is today.”
Pierini, who joined the resort in July 2024, is taking over daily operational responsibilities at JHMR immediately, according to the announcement. He will formally assume the role of CEO on June 1. Pierini worked for JHMR’s Mountain Sports School in the 1990s before spending 13 years with Vail Resorts, where he oversaw a number of the company’s resorts as COO and Senior Vice President, JHMR said.
