TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — Let the bidding begin! As it prepares to replace its Sublette chairlift, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) is auctioning off the old lift’s chairs.
JHMR opened the auction on its website on Wednesday, June 26, and bidding will go until Wednesday, July 3. Prices for each of the 83 chairs start at $1,200 and, the Resort notes, include chair cushions and safety bars, but not hangars and grips. Chairs are approximately 375 pounds each.
At the time of publication, Chair #107 had the highest bid at $2,199.
The Sublette lift opened in 1987 and carried skiers and snowboarders up 1,630 vertical feet. The resort listed the Sublette lift (without the chairs) for sale in April 2024.
The new lift is part of a larger resort-wide suite of construction projects submitted by the Resort and approved by the Bridger-Teton National Forest earlier this year that will also usher in changes to existing runs, new and updated visitor facilities and new summer activities, among other updates.
Twenty percent of the profits from the chair sales will go to Teton Adaptive, which helps people with disabilities recreate in the greater Teton area.
